Bridgerton’s Nicola Coughlan Announces Surprise Career Move

Bridgerton’s Nicola Coughlan is adding ‘singer’ to her resume as she’s set to release a viral remix in the style of the Real Housewives franchise.

After giving fans a dream trip with Luke Newton and the rest of the Bridgerton cast, Coughlan has announced a new career move.

The Derry Girls star officially releases ‘Shoes… More Shoes’, a track inspired by one of her recent interviews.

Speaking to Hits Radio UK, Coughlan and Newton were asked what their dream jobs outside of acting would be.

The Penelope Featherington star said she would like to make a pop song aimed exclusively at gay men, à la Real Housewives, listing luxury items like “shoes, private yachts, caviar, more shoes.”

The clip went viral on social media after music producer Ellis Miah remixed the clip earlier in May.

In a not-so-surprising turn of events, the internet did its thing and it looks like Coughlan will now actually release the track, which is currently available for pre-order . Proceeds will go to The Trevor Project and Not a Phase, two organizations that support the LGBTQ+ community.

“In my era where I was almost exclusively making music for gay men,” Coughlan shared on Instagram, posting a cover for her single in which she wears gold jewelry and sunglasses.

In the corner, a warning label for parents can be seen, a teasing comment. Bridgerton fans should be aware that the lyrics may not be appropriate for all members of the cast.

The star’s singing debut was met with overwhelming support from fellow celebrities, including Wicked star Cynthia Erivo, who wrote: “I’m dead can the bi girls please get a piece of this too??”

Heartstopper’s Joe Locke called Coughlan an “icon,” and it looks like the song will be on repeat on Jonathan Van Ness’ playlist, as the Queer Eye star noted, “Okay, we’ve got our playlist ready for tonight.”

We wonder what Queen Charlotte would think of this…
