Brewers place INF Joey Ortiz, RHP Enoli Paredes on IL

Milwaukee Brewers third baseman Joey Ortiz was placed on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday with a sore neck after playing in just two of six possible games between June 26 and Tuesday.

The Brewers also placed right-hander Enoli Paredes on the 15-day IL with tendonitis in his right forearm.

Milwaukee recalled infielder Vinny Capra and right-handed pitcher Janson Junk from Triple-A Nashville.

Ortiz, 26 on July 14, has played every day and made just one start during that span because of a stiff neck, last playing on Monday. The move to the IL was retroactive to Tuesday.

He is hitting .269 with 13 doubles, seven home runs and 28 RBIs in 74 games for Milwaukee. He made his major league debut in 2023 with Baltimore, when he was 7-for-33 (.212) in 15 games. He was traded to the Brewers after the season.

Paredes, 28, has a 1-0 record with a 1.08 ERA, one save, eight walks and 12 strikeouts in 16⅔ innings over 14 appearances.

Capra, who turns 28 on Sunday, made his Brewers debut on Wednesday in Colorado. He has played in 17 games total with the Toronto Blue Jays (2022) and Pittsburgh Pirates (2023) and was 4-for-23 (.174).

Junk, 28, is 0-0 with a 9.00 ERA, one hit and three strikeouts in five innings in three appearances this season for Milwaukee.
