Brad Arthur: Leeds Rhinos manager signs new contract until 2025

Brad Arthur has signed a contract that will keep him at Leeds Rhinos next season.

The former Parramatta Eels head coach was appointed on July 10 until the end of the season, following the departure of Rohan Smith.

Since 50-year-old Arthur took charge, Leeds have won two of their six games, but one of those was a 30-4 victory over world champions Wigan Warriors.

Arthur joined the Rhinos after being sacked by the Eels in May and led the club to the 2022 NRL Grand Final, the highlight of his ten seasons as manager.

Rhinos sporting director Ian Blease told the club website, external: “He has already had a major impact on our group of players and coaches in a short time and that will only continue in the coming months.

“His dedication to our club is beyond question. He came here straight after the original deal was done to start with, leaving his family behind at home.

“Of course it’s a big decision for any family to stay longer. We’re delighted to have Brad on board for 2025 and I’m sure, as he’s already proven, we’ll continue to plan for the future when the time is right.”

Arthur said: “I said I would only stay if I felt I could make a difference. It’s a big decision to move halfway around the world, especially for my family.

“I think an initial one-year agreement is a good option for all parties, but I’m sure we’ll continue to talk to each other over the next 12 months and make the right decision for all of us about the future after that.”
