Bournemouth working on loan deal for Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga

According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Bournemouth are working on a deal to sign Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga.

The Blues have been busy again this summer and while they are keen to sign a striker before the end of the transfer window, their main priority is to move players.

Chelsea currently have a group of players training outside the first team who are surplus to requirements, including Romelu Lukaku, Trevoh Chalobah and Arrizabalaga.

Bournemouth are working on Arrizabalaga Loan Agreement

Chelsea made Arrizabalaga the world’s most expensive goalkeeper in 2018, when they paid Athletic Bilbao £71.6million.

After a positive start, it’s safe to say the 29-year-old’s time at Stamford Bridge has not been a success. He spent last season on loan at Real Madrid, where he made 20 appearances as Los Blancos won La Liga and the Champions League.

The Spaniard was linked with a move to Al-Ittihad earlier this summer, although he would prefer a return to the Spanish capital, depending on the departure of Andriy Lunin.

Ornstein has now provided an update, reporting that Bournemouth are working on a loan deal for the goalkeeper.

The report reveals that other teams are considering Arrizabalaga, who Bournemouth see as their top target, while the club also have other options including former player Aaron Ramsdale.

The Spain international made 163 appearances for the Blues and was part of the squad that won the Champions League in 2021.

It is unlikely that Chelsea would approve an outright loan and you would think they would want an obligation to buy to make the deal permanent.

Arrizabalaga is not the only goalkeeper Chelsea are looking to sell this summer. Djordje Petrovic has become surplus to requirements following the arrival of Filip Jorgensen, despite impressing last season. The 24-year-old has been linked with a loan move to Strasbourg.
