Bournemouth spend record £40m on Evanilson as Brighton bid for Rutter | Transfer Window

Bournemouth have moved to replace Dominic Solanke by agreeing a club record fee of £40million for Porto striker Evanilson. The Brazilian, who scored 13 league goals in 27 games last season, is expected to travel to England in the next 24 hours to complete the move. The 24-year-old made his Brazil debut in a friendly against Mexico in June.

Solanke left for Tottenham last week for £55million and Andoni Iraola has wasted no time in signing his replacement as Tottenham prepare for Saturday’s season opener at Nottingham Forest.

In the meantime, Bright have confirmed the signing of Brajan Gruda for £25m from Mainz and released the £40m release clause for the Leeds Striker Georginio Rutter. Gruda, a winger for Germany Under-21, has signed a four-year contract.

“I wouldn’t say he’s a typical German. He’s like a boy from the streets, he loves the ball at his feet. He can do special things, like all our attacking players,” said new Brighton manager Fabian Hürzeler.

“He needs time, he comes from Germany and he is very young. The Premier League is the best league in the world and we will try to integrate him and get him ready.”

Brighton are also hoping to seal the signing of Rutter after he has met his release clause, with the France Under-21 forward deciding his future. “If there is a match, we’ll see what happens,” said Hürzeler. “I will never say anything about it.”
