Bold Bulls Predictions for the Best 2024 NBA Offseason Acquisitions & Trades | News, Scores, Highlights, Stats & Rumors

The Bulls are big fans of Patrick Williams, or at least the idea of the player he could become.

That was clear four years ago when they made him the fourth overall pick in the 2020 draft, and the message was communicated again this offseason when they signed him to a five-year, $90 million contract.

But what happens when Williams shows little to no visible growth in his game? He came as a development project—or, if you wanted to be super optimistic, a potential Kawhi Leonard clone—and essentially hasn’t changed since. He’s a capable three-and-D wing, he just doesn’t shoot many threes and isn’t an impact defender.

If Williams can’t find a way to move up, at what point does Chicago reconsider his deal? This season would be rushed, but if it’s clear early on that he’s going to continue to underwhelm with his aggression and not consistently make his presence felt, don’t be surprised to see his name pop up in trade discussions.
