Bohemians attack Kiwi shooter as they continue their summer signing mission

Bohs have made their fourth summer signing with the arrival of New Zealand international Alex Grieve from St Mirren.

The 25-year-old striker has succeeded Ross Tierney, Leigh Kavanagh and Archie Meekison at the Dalymount club since the transfer window opened last week.

Gypsies manager Alan Reynolds hopes Greive can make his debut in Friday night’s Premier Division clash against Sligo Rovers.

Grieve, who scored two goals in 10 appearances, spent last season on loan at Dundee United before being released by St Mirren a month ago.

He said: “I knew Bohs were one of the biggest clubs in Ireland so when I heard they were looking at me I was very interested.

“I’ve had good conversations with the manager about what he wants to achieve here and I’m really looking forward to being part of that.

“I feel like I’m an energetic and hardworking player. I like getting behind defenders and causing them problems. I want to help the club get where it wants to be.

“I know Nando Pijnaker (Sligo Rovers) and Max Mata (former Sligo Rovers) from the New Zealand competition and I know from them how high the level is here in the competition, so I’m looking forward to the challenge.

“I also know Archie from Dundee United last season and Jake Carroll from when we were both in Glasgow, so there are already a few familiar faces at the club.

“I’ve been training with the team for the last two days and I’ve really enjoyed it. There’s a great line-up here and the manager is ambitious, and I’m really looking forward to getting started now.”

Bohs boss Reynolds said: “I’m delighted to have Alex on board. He’s quick, he’s sharp and he’s going to be a real handful for defenders.

“Alex can play anywhere in the front three and we’ve had him in training over the last few days and I’ve been really impressed with him.

“Like everyone who comes in during this transfer window, he will need a bit of time to get up to speed, but he has been out with the New Zealand squad recently so he is in good form.

“The squad already looks a lot stronger than it did a few weeks ago and we are looking forward to getting all the new guys involved as soon as possible.”
