Bo Westcombe-Evans and Phoebe Murray win first caps against USA

Phoebe Murray and Bo Westcombe-Evans will make their first international appearances as part of a revamped defensive line as England take on the United States in WXV’s season opener on Sunday.

Murray forms a midfield duo with Emily Scarratt, while Loughborough Lightning winger Westcombe-Evans makes her Test debut in place of Abby Dow.

After coming on as a substitute in the 24-12 win over New Zealand earlier this month, flanker Georgia Brock makes her first start for England.

Zoe Harrison replaces Holly Aitchison at fly-half, with the Bristol Bears playmaker making the bench.

England, who won the inaugural edition of the tournament last year, will play New Zealand and Canada to close their campaign.

Number eight Alex Matthews will captain England for the first time, making her 70th appearance for her country, while number two Rosie Galligan returns after being sidelined since the Six Nations with thumb and leg injuries.
