Black Ops 6 launch improvements include changes to movement, spawns, lag fixes, and more

The road to Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is getting shorter and more exciting by the day, but it’s also packed with improvements based on beta feedback, according to a new blog post.

Activision and Treyarch have outlined a series of changes from the beta, citing a number of requested improvements that highlight everything from gameplay to map design, game performance, and weapon balancing, all born from player experience and in-game data. In short, it seems like the beta was paramount in shaping BO6 before launch.

Treyarch said the beta was “tremendously helpful in identifying and resolving some performance-related issues,” including the “stuttering” most players experienced during the beta, which at times made it unplayable for some. And yet Activision said BO6 was the most successful beta version of the series to date.

“Smooth gameplay performance is paramount to the player experience, and we’ve been able to identify sources of in-game hitching and implement significant fixes since the end of beta,” Treyarch said. “We continue to collaborate with experts across all disciplines to improve overall performance ahead of launch and into live seasons.”

BO6’s Main selling point and point of difference from the rest of the franchise, omnimovement, is also being tweaked. For launch, there will be “improvements to the fluidity and fidelity of the animation,” including improvements to third-person animations for sliding, diving, jumping, and going prone. Sliding is also being tweaked, with a reduction in the time between sliding and going prone, the minimum time to slide after sprinting, and a slight increase in the initial sliding speed with a reduction in the maximum sliding duration.

With regard to omni-movement, BO6 At launch, there are also improvements to the fluidity of sniper ADS speed, improved fluidity when switching weapons while sprinting, reduced weapon shake when crouching, and more.

In response to player complaints that the maps in the beta were too small, Treyarch reiterated that “the majority” of the 12 core six-versus-six maps are “medium-sized,” while several in the beta were smaller and the total map pool of 16 launch maps will offer more variety.

Elsewhere, Treyarch confirmed a shortened Winner’s Circle that will play at the end of each match, a reduction in camera shake while moving, and other adjustments to game modes, gear, Perks and more.
