Black Ops 6 Beta Experiencing Issues on Launch Day

The Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 multiplayer beta is now available in early access, but unfortunately the servers appear to be buckling under the influx of players logging in at once.

Servers went live around 10AM PT / 1PM ET, and a lot of people jumped on them at once, leading to some issues due to simple server load, it seems. Developer Treyarch is now adding more servers to help handle the load. “More servers? More servers!” Treyarch said.

One big change for the Black Ops 6 beta compared to the beta tests for previous Call of Duty games is that it’s rolling out across all platforms at once. Historically, PlayStation owners got in first, thanks to Sony paying Activision. But Microsoft now owns Call of Duty, and has changed the playbook.

A statement from the Call of Duty Updates account said that Black Ops 6 is implementing login queues to help handle server load. And for players who do manage to log in, they may experience longer wait times for matchmaking. “We are working to implement more servers to get players in-game and starting matches,” the company said.

The Black Ops 6 beta is available now for those who pre-ordered the game or have Xbox Game Pass. Other ways to get in early are to have Xfinity or pay $1 for a Game Pass trial. The early access period ends on September 4, after which there will be an open beta that will be available to everyone from September 6-9.

Black Ops 6 releases in full on October 25, featuring a campaign mode set in the ’90s, multiplayer, and Zombies (with the return of round-based matches).
