Beth Mead and Steph Catley to miss Arsenal’s Champions League qualifier – Jonas Eidevall

Jonas Eidevall has confirmed that Beth Mead and Steph Catley will miss Arsenal’s Champions League qualifier against Rangers on Wednesday evening.

Neither was involved in the team’s friendly win over Southampton on Saturday, but Mead did train individually ahead of the match against Rangers.

“Beth Mead and Steph Catley did not take part in training and will not be in the squad tomorrow,” said the Arsenal head coach.

“It’s a matter of day by day. Beth Mead is very close to returning to the squad, so she’s next in line to return.”

Mead’s absence has been attributed to a groin injury, while Catley is struggling with a minor muscle injury.

Newcomer Daphne van Domselaar was also absent against Southampton, but Eidevall has confirmed that she will be part of the squad against Rangers.

If Arsenal beat the Scottish side, they will play either Atletico Madrid or Rosenborg on Saturday, September 7, for a place in the second qualifying round for the Champions League group stage.
