According to an eyewitness, who narrowly avoided the crash, the accident occurred just after the rain had subsided. The driver was traveling from Kushalnagar to Bengaluru when, while passing a truck in the middle lane, a car from the other side suddenly lost control. It appeared to spin in the air and launched about 10 feet before landing on the leftmost lane where it hit a TATA Nexon, the eyewitness post said.

“I literally stood still for a second and by the time I could, the car turned around and landed in the leftmost lane and it rolled again and a TATA nexon hit it,” wrote the witness, who managed to avoid the wreck.

The Nexon had two children in the front seat, who sat on the laps of the driver and passenger, the post claimed. They were injured by the deployment of the airbags and were said to be bleeding. A video shared online showed the children in need.

“My guess is that the driver of the baleno drove over a puddle at a higher speed and with a lot of control and hit the divider, causing the car to become airborne and crash. The sad part was in the nexon which I think had two babies sitting on the driver’s lap and the airbag deployment caused the child to bleed and there was another baby sitting on the passenger’s lap,” the post said.

The main cause of the accident is said to be flooding and poor visibility due to continuous rain. “It was raining very heavily and the car had to stop for about 30 minutes after taking the highway exit due to poor visibility. Also the biggest problem on this highway, as I told many people, is waterlogging on this highway, especially near the dividing line, and also people’s lack of knowledge about how fast to go on these roads,” said the user in his message.
