Bears bring in 8 players for tryout on Tuesday

The Chicago Bears hosted a number of players for a tryout at Halas Hall on Tuesday. According to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune, The Bears drafted eight players: wide receivers Kearis Jackson, Cornelius Johnson, Jordan Kerley and David Wallis, quarterback Gavin Hardison, cornerback Damarion Williams and tight ends Armani Rogers and Joel Wilson.

Half of the tryouts were for wide receivers, which isn’t surprising considering Rome Odunze could miss Week 2 with a knee injury. Johnson is the most decorated of the four after his career at Michigan, while Jackson is the only player with NFL experience with the Tennessee Titans in 2023.

As for the other players, Williams and Rogers have NFL experience at their respective positions. Meanwhile, Hardison is a rookie quarterback who played for UTEP, and Wilson has been bounced around between practice squads.

Tryouts are nothing new in the NFL, and many of them occur early in the season as teams try to find potential fitters who can contribute at some point during the year. It remains to be seen whether any of these players will be signed to the practice squad or the active roster.
