Bat houses approved, tiki bar denied in Pettibone by La Crosse Park Board

Several changes to Pettibone Park were presented to the La Crosse Park Board on Thursday.

A plan was approved to install bat boxes in the park.

Staff say about 500 brown bats live under the Pettibone Bridge and the higher houses would provide them with better habitat.

Similar bat houses have been placed at other bridges in the area.

Also, a new location for an outdoor tiki bar at the Pettibone Boat Club has been temporarily withdrawn.

Park managers are going to work on a new concept.

The proposal had been postponed from the Park Board’s May meeting.
