Barry the Barley Bull is all set for the Calgary Stampede

Popular roadside attraction in Foothills County is ready to take part in the largest outdoor show in the world.

Barry the Barley Bull is all decked out for the Calgary Stampede.

The massive barley straw roadside attraction in Foothills County, created by Pat Holden and her husband Darcy Wenaas last fall, has a new look in honor of the world’s largest outdoor show.

Now Barry is ridden by a cowboy, flanked by a rodeo clown and a foaming mug of beer.

Holden said Barry, who has previously dressed up for Halloween, Christmas, St. Patrick’s Day and Easter, has now definitely become the neighborhood mascot.

Made from two round bales and one square bale, Barry sits on the 127-acre farm that the Holden family owned for nearly a century. Although the farm was sold in December, Holden said the new owner is happy to continue updating Barry.

Barry is located across from 106006-242 Ave. W, just around the corner from Granary Road.
