Barkov shines in Finland, Ehlers hat trick, Kaprizov takes scoring lead, Saturday streamers (November 2) – DobberHockey

Aleksander Barkov put on a show for fans in his native Finland, scoring a goal and adding three assists in the Panthers’ 6-4 win over Dallas on Friday. The Florida captain has collected six points in just two games since returning from a lower-body injury, so hopefully you were able to get him back into your lineup.

Fellow Finn Esa Lindell led the Stars with a goal and an assist in this match. Lindell has points in back-to-back games after being held without a point in his first eight games.

Sam Reinhart picks up where he left off last season. With two goals and an assist on Friday, Reinhart has four goals in his last three games and nine goals in 12 games. Reinhart maintains his strikeout rate from the previous two seasons (2.8 SOG/GP). His 26.5 SH% would normally be cause for concern, but it is only slightly higher than his shooting percentage from last season (24.5 SH%). Any regression will have to wait.

Aaron Ekblad contributed three assists, which were his first points in five games. Perhaps based on past point totals, Ekblad appears to be overvalued in fantasy leagues (51% Yahoo/81% Fantrax). Its peripherals are okay, but not spectacular, plus it averages less than 1.5 SOG/GP. Additionally, the Panthers would rather try relatively unproven options on the top power play than the veteran Ekblad, who has experience there.

The most recent blueliner on that top power play is Uvis Balinskis, who has just one even-strength point in 12 games this season. I’m not sure I’d make a point of adding him until the power play points come in. The Panthers tried Adam Boqvist there to start the season, but Boqvist recorded just two points (both on the power play) in nine games. games and has been a healthy scratch the past two games. Florida still has one of the better power plays in the league, but the loss of Brandon Montour this offseason means this is an area they need to fix at some point this season. Maybe they’ll fill this need with a trade before the deadline.

The Winnipeg Jets keep rolling and earn their 10^e won in 11 games this season. That’s exactly how long Kyle Connor’s point streak has lasted. Connor had an assist, giving him 18 points in those eleven games. Shooting at a 20% clip will eventually cool Connor down a bit. Still, he’s averaging four shots per game this season and has at least as many shots in each of his past four games, which are great signs. The skills are certainly there.

Nikolaj Ehlers scored three times and added a power-play assist on five shots to power the Jets. Ehlers has been red hot lately with 13 points in his last eight games and 15 points in 11 games on the season. Finally, Ehlers is finally on the Jets’ top power play, with four of his points this season coming on the man advantage. In a contract year, Ehlers really makes an early profit. But like many players who have made a good start, the statistics show that there should be a bit of regression. However, I wouldn’t consider Ehlers a sell high.

Dmitri Voronkov made his season debut for the Blue Jackets. He was held without a point in 13 minutes of ice time.

That’s seven consecutive multipoint games for Kirill Kaprizov. In that span, Kaprizov has collected 15 points, including a goal and an assist on Friday against Tampa Bay. As I type this, Dolla Bill is at the top of the NHL scoring race with 21 points through 10 games. One number that could allow Kaprizov to rack up that many points, assuming he doesn’t tire: Kaprizov has logged at least 20 minutes in every game this season except the Wild’s first game. He probably won’t reach the 172 points he’s currently on pace for, but the second 100-point season of his career is certainly a possibility.

Ilya Sorokin is off to a good start in each of his six games this season. On Friday, Sorokin made 32 saves in a 4-3 win over Buffalo. Sorokin earned the win despite the Islanders losing two defensemen (Adam Pelech and Mike Reilly) to injury in the second period. He may be switching bases with Semyon Varlamov, but he provides quality goaltending at a time when ratios are increasing.

Bo Horvat and Maxim Tsyplakov each scored a goal and added an assist for the Isles. Tsyplakov is currently among the top 5 rookie scores with seven points in eleven games.

Mathew Barzal missed this game as he is out with an upper body injury.

With an assist on Friday, Tage Thompson extended his point streak to eight games. During that period, Thompson scored six goals and six assists. Thompson also has a six-game assist streak: one assist per game, if you haven’t done the math yet.

Igor Shesterkin has taken a lot of shots this week. After the Capitals took 45 shots at him on Tuesday, Shesterkin stopped all but one of the Senators’ 41 shots on Friday. That was the difference, as the Rangers won this game 2-1. Shesterkin has had good starts in each of his last six matches, four of which have turned out to be wins.

Alexis Lafreniere scored one of the Rangers goals and assisted Artemi Panarin at the other end. Lafreniere has scored at a point-per-game pace thus far (10 PTS in 10 GP).

Jacob Markstrom’s return to Calgary as a New Jersey Devil went well for most of the game. Then ex-Devil Blake Coleman broke a scoreless tie with just over five minutes left in regulation time, Jonathan Huberdeau scored less than a minute later and Coleman scored his second of the match into an empty net, making it a 3- 0 win for Calgary sealed. The Flames broke a four-game losing streak with the win.

Markstrom’s former backup Dan Vladar stole the show, stopping all 22 shots he faced and picking up his first shutout in three seasons. Vladar has alternated starts with Dustin Wolf for a Flames team that has been better than expected until recently. Vladar is widely available in fantasy leagues and is a solid streaming option to say the least.

Huberdeau remains inconsistent. After bursting out of the gate with five points in his first two games, he entered Friday’s game with just two points in his last eight games. Huberdeau has just three assists in 11 games and a high 31.3 SH%, which are not positive signs for a player whose scoring totals typically include a lot of assists.

Andrei Kuzmenko was benched during the third period and finished the game with just 10 minutes of ice time. He has no points in his last three games and no goals in his last seven games. Defensive issues usually land him in the doghouse, so his efforts in Sunday’s battle for Alberta are something to keep an eye on. Once Kuzmenko’s ice time starts to dwindle, it will be time to look elsewhere.

Here are some weekend streamers. I take players from teams that play on Saturdays and Sundays, namely Boston, Chicago, Seattle, Toronto and Washington.

Mason Lohrei – I’m not sure Lohrei will stick with the Bruins’ top power play long-term, but he’s there as Charlie McAvoy (0 PTS in last 9 GP) tries to find his game. Lohrei himself is winless in his last five games, while the Bruins have struggled as a team lately. You could target Lohrei if top-powered defenders are hard to find in your league.

Teuvo Teravainen – I think today it’s all about the collapsing players. A player with no points in his last six games might not be the strongest recommendation, but Teravainen is still on Connor Bedard’s line. Turbo can be a hot or cold player, and he was hot earlier in the season when he started the season with seven points in his first five games.

Matty Beniers – With six points in his last four games, Beniers could finally capitalize on his upside as the second overall pick in 2021. He’s at just 16 percent from Yahoo, so now would be the time to get in.

Max Pacioretty – As mentioned yesterday, Patches is on par with John Tavares and William Nylander. He also has four assists in his last two games. He is only 9 percent listed at Yahoo and 30 percent at Fantrax.

Connor McMichael – I also mentioned McMichael in yesterday’s Ramblings.
