“Bare Knuckle That’d Cooler”: Sean Strickland Calls Mike Perry vs. Jake Paul a ‘Clown Show’

YouTuber and boxer Jake Paul was supposed to face Mike Tyson in August this year, but a stomach ulcer kept Tyson sidelined for a few weeks. Paul didn’t want to sit on the sidelines so he arranged a boxing match with Mike Perry. However, former UFC champion Sean Strickland believes the two should have done it without gloves.

Strickland, a former middleweight champion himself, recently spoke to ‘MMA Crazy’ about his time as Mike Perry’s fan and how happy he was with his success.

Strickland then went on to criticize the younger Paul brother, saying he was fighting a welterweight and that the two should have fought bare-knuckle.

“I mean, it’s just a clown show. You know, I’m actually a big fan of Mike Perry. I am so happy with his success. I hope he gets a bag with this. But then again, you know, Jake Paul, you’re fighting a welterweight. Maybe it would be cooler if it was bare-knuckle, but it’s like challenging a goddamn football player to an MMA fight. He’s just not the same guy.’

For the uninitiated, Mike Perry has made a name for himself in the world of bare-knuckle boxing since leaving the UFC, as he remains undefeated in the sport.

However, Perry mostly fights at welterweight and doesn’t have much experience in boxing, his only appearance in the boxing ring being a loss to Kenneth McNeil in 2015.

Therefore, Paul’s choice of opponents has once again angered the MMA community. Regardless, given Perry’s propensity for violence, this will not be an easy fight for Paul.

A Closer Look at Jake Paul vs Mike Perry

‘The Problem Child’ is an extremely active fighter and usually fights two to three times a year. He didn’t want to wait until November for Mike Tyson, so he decided to secure the Perry match.

In their fight, Paul will have both a height and reach advantage over Perry. In addition, ‘The Problem Child’ will also be considerably stronger when the two men step into the ring. Perry is a welterweight and Paul is a natural heavyweight and boxer.

Perry, on the other hand, is faster, more explosive and creates tricky angles to hurt you.

So fans will be hoping that despite being at an offset disadvantage, they can see their first competitive Jake Paul fight.
