There has been much ado about the reported backstage confrontation between Dr. Britt Baker DMD and MJF, which resulted in the former being suspended from AEW and off television despite an ongoing feud with Mercedes Mone that will culminate at All In on August 26.

He confirmed that the inciting comments were made by Baker, writing: “The argument was sparked by comments Baker allegedly made that were relayed back to MJF. We are told the initial spark was likely an older issue that was reignited when Baker made the comments. No one wanted to go into detail about it and a number of people were upset that the story had even leaked, as they felt it did no good to anyone that it did.”

Johnson also confirmed that reports that MJF “burst into the women’s locker room” were false and that Will Ospreay did indeed speak to Baker, but that the conversation took place outside the locker room and in the common area.

The insider also wrote, “There is a version of the story that claims MJF punched a wall while she was arguing with Baker, which would imply he did it to intimidate her. We’re told MJF did punch a wall, but he did it out of frustration after the argument was over and he wasn’t with Baker at the time” and that Baker was suspended but MJF was not for her instigating role.

While it could be argued that hitting walls in any situation is not the intention and should be considered a hanging, it appears that matters were dealt with internally promptly and appropriately.

However, that doesn’t make up for the constant leaks of behind-the-scenes confrontations and disagreements that define AEW as much as the on-screen product.

Hopefully, for the sake of its reputation, the company can clean up the leaks and prevent behind-the-scenes feuds from becoming news instead of its competitors’ efforts in front of the cameras.

Baker is still scheduled to challenge Mone for the TBS Championship at All In, which is seen by many as a dream match.

Speaking of dream matches, MJF will defend his AEW American Championship against Will Ospreay, which is a worthy contender for Match of the Year.
