Authorities search for suspect in Jasper County home assault case

JASPER COUNTY, Mo. – Shortly before 2:30 this afternoon, authorities received a tip that a man wanted for assault in Cherokee County may be at a home on Belle Center Road northwest of Joplin.

Officers from the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Carthage Police Department surrounded the home.

They shouted at the suspect through a megaphone and used bangs in both the house and an outbuilding to get him out.

Law enforcement officers entered the outbuilding, house and RV but were unable to find who they were looking for.

Officers were looking for Joshua Ferguson, 38, of Riverton.
