Australian teenager denies murdering British mother Emma Lovell

A second teenager accused of murdering a British woman during a burglary at her home in Australia has denied murder.

Emma Lovell, 41, was stabbed as she allegedly confronted two intruders in Brisbane on Boxing Day 2022.

Still a teenager confessed to murder earlier this year and was sentenced to 14 years in prison.

The trial, which could only be heard by the judge, found that the second suspect, who was 17 years old at the time of the attack, had not committed any of the violent acts himself. ABC in Australia reports.

Mother-of-two Mrs Lovell emigrated from Ipswich in 2011 with her daughters and her husband Lee, who was also injured in the attack.

In the latest trial the youngster, who cannot be named for legal reasons, also pleaded not guilty to armed burglary, as well as malicious acts and assault causing bodily harm to Mr Lovell, who was kicked and then thrown into the back was stabbed. according to Nine News.

Judge Michael Copley will have to consider whether there was a common purpose to cause harm, the court was told.
