During the closing ceremony of the 2024 Summer Olympics, Paris Games organizer Tony Estanguet announced that the French capital now holds the record for the most marriage proposals during an Olympic Games.

Argentine Pablo Simonet and Maria Pilar Campoy

Pablo Simonet, a player for the Argentina national handball team, proposed to Maria Campoy, a member of the women’s hockey team, in the Olympic Village before the Olympic Games officially began.

After winning gold in the men’s coxless four, Team USA rower Justin Best proposed to his girlfriend Lainey Duncan live on the Today Show and in front of the iconic Eiffel Tower.

Payton Otterdahl of the US

Another proposal took place in front of the Tower of Love when Team USA’s Payton Otterdahl got engaged to Maddy Nilles after she finished fourth in the men’s shot put final.
