Ashlee Simpson addresses rumors that sister Jessica is divorcing Eric Johnson after a cryptic message

She doesn’t give it all away.

Ashlee Simpson played coy while responding to questions about her sister Jessica’s marriage to Eric Johnson.

The “Pieces of Me” singer, 40, and her husband, Evan Ross, were spotted heading to Mr. Chow in Beverly Hills, California, when TMZ reporters asked her about speculation that Jessica and Johnson were headed for divorce.

“Do you know anything about it? Is that true?” the reporter asked Ashlee, to which she replied bluntly, “No.”

It’s unclear if she confirmed that the breakup speculation was untrue or if she didn’t know about the rumors.

Ashlee’s blunt comment about her sister’s relationship with the former footballer came shortly after Jessica posted a cryptic Instagram message that seemingly hinted at marital problems.

“Interviews in my music room in Nashville where I discovered my special magic,” Jessica wrote on Monday, November 11, alongside a series of sensual photos of herself.

She added, “This comeback is personal, it’s an apology to myself for putting up with everything I didn’t deserve 🎶 🎼 🤍🖤.”

Several fans flooded the comments section of the post with claims that the pop star was hinting at being single.

However; other supporters suggested that Jessica just announced her “comeback” with new music.

The “Irresistible” singer sparked divorce rumors in February after posting several photos on Instagram of her not wearing her wedding ring.

But the couple put the gossip to rest for a moment when they stepped out for a romantic Valentine’s Day date at Ivy At The Shore in Santa Monica, California, on February 14.

Six months earlier, Jessica gushed over her husband while celebrating his 44th birthday in September 2023.

“Eric turned 44 on September 15th and his family gave him all the love cells we have to celebrate his life,” she wrote on Instagram at the time, adding: “My heart is so taken with this man, I can barely hold my own ….We love youuuu (he’s not an Instagram guy, but I always think the more well wishes the better 😜).”

Jessica and the retired NFL tight end, 45, have been married since 2014 and share three children: Maxwell Drew, 12, Ace Knute, 11, and Birdie Mae, 5.
