..As Group Urges EFCC To Take Action On Bobrisky, Bello’s Corruption Cases

A human rights group, Center for Human and Socio-economic Rights (CHSR), has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), to take serious action on the bribery allegation involving Mr Idris Olanrewaju Okuneye, aka, Bobrisky and the fraud case of former Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello.

Speaking at a press briefing, which held recently at the Liberation Centre, Ijaiye, Lagos, the President of CHSR, Comrade Alex Omotehinse, urged the EFCC to constitute an investigation team on the allegation that Bobrisky offered N15 million to officials of the Nigeria Correctional Center , when he was jailed for six months over abuse of the naira.

“Of particular note, our attention has been drawn to the duo of Mr Idris Olanrewaju Okuneye alias Bobrisky and former Governor Yahaya Belo’s case.

“We appreciate and give kudos to the prompt reaction of the Chairman of the EFCC, Mr Ola Olukoyede in constituting an investigation team to look into the merits and demerits of the whistle blower VeryDarkMan of #15 million bribery allegations against men and officers of the EFCC .

“The investigation by the EFCC should determine whether or not there was any financial inducement by Bobrisky or anyone on his behalf in exchange for the dropping of money laundering charges against him.

“Any person found complicit must face the full weight of the law. As an organisation, we urge the EFCC leadership for an open, sincere and thorough investigation, the case must not be swept under the carpet so that Nigerians can see and know that the agency is not and will not condone corruption within the ranks of its staff .
