Arsenal star’s future to be decided later after uncertain summer transfer window

Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey’s future will be decided later. No talks are currently taking place due to an uncertain summer transfer window.

Fabrizio Romano said this in an exclusive interview with CaughtOffside for his latest column in the Daily Briefing, in which the Italian journalist tries to explain what really happened with Partey this summer.

The Ghana international is a key player for the Gunners, but he is now in the final year of his contract at the Emirates Stadium and it is doubtful whether he will stay at the club for much longer. They may want to sell him in January while they still can.

Partey still looks set to be a key part of Mikel Arteta’s first-team plans for the time being, but the arrival of Mikel Merino this summer could limit his playing time at some point. Romano, however, seems adamant that no decision will be made just yet.

Thomas Partey in action for Arsenal

What happens to Partey in January, we will see later. But it seems that there have been no concrete talks about a departure for the former Atlético Madrid player this summer.

Partey transfer situation explained by Romano

“Thomas Partey stayed at Arsenal this summer despite it looking like his future was uncertain at one point. Some fans have asked me again about his situation for January, as his contract expires next summer,” Romano said.

“For now, my information is that there have been no discussions about it, sources on both sides guarantee that they have not made a decision yet. It has been a quiet summer for Partey, who was never really in talks to leave.

“The full focus is now on this season and then they will decide about the future.”

Partey would undoubtedly be an attractive option for many top clubs in Europe and elsewhere, but it is not yet clear who would want to acquire him.
