Arsenal may have to trigger a €30m buyout fee for a transfer to replace the fans’ favourite

Arsenal are reportedly considering a potential move for Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia as a replacement for Aaron Ramsdale.

The 23-year-old Spanish goalkeeper seems like a decent talent and could be a good replacement behind David Raya, although it seems he won’t come cheap.

According to Relevo, Espanyol have a €30 million buyout fee for Garcia and it appears Arsenal will have to pay that amount to complete a deal.

That seems like a hefty sum of money for a replacement, especially as it is not yet clear whether the Gunners will even be able to negotiate a transfer fee for Ramsdale.

As Fabrizio Romano told CaughtOffside Earlier today, Arsenal said in their Daily Briefing column that they have so far rejected loan offers for Ramsdale as they hope to make a permanent sale.

Joan Garcia to Arsenal?

Romano reported that Wolves and Bournemouth are keeping an eye on Ramsdale and it will be interesting to see if these clubs increase their bid for the England international.

If that fails, Arsenal may have to abandon their pursuit of Garcia unless Espanyol are prepared to significantly lower their demands.

Arsenal have had many changes in goalkeeping under Mikel Arteta. Ramsdale initially came in to replace Bernd Leno but didn’t last long until Raya replaced him. Reserve keeper Matt Turner has also come and gone.
