Arnold has the last word on a cold day in San Remo

A cold winter morning didn’t stop a large group of 44 members of the South West Gippsland Midweek Bowling Group from heading to San Remo for the latest edition of the weekly challenge.

Although it was very cold when the bowlers stepped onto the green to start the day, it was not long before the sun came out and the day became pleasant.

There was a fair amount of wind which made for some nice moments during the day, but overall it didn’t affect the quality of the matches.

I would like to thank Pauline and John, but also Peter and Luke again for arranging everyone for the play that day.

Many thanks to Bev and Vern for the kebabs, they were a great surprise, very tasty and much appreciated by all.

I would also like to thank Mark and Michael behind the bar, as well as Gwen, Claire, Bob and everyone who helped in the kitchen.

The winners this week with 37 points were Nick Arnold (S), Amanda Bozelle (L) and Wayne Stevens (3).

Second places with a score of 34 went to David Hanlon (S), Robyn Dall (3) and Phil Wright (L).

The top single-game winners this week, with 20 points, were Max Williams (2), Elaine Williams (left), Mark Hanrahan (left) and Michael Saunders (3).

Next week we meet for our opening day at Loch Bowls Club.

We look forward to introducing such a great club to our competition and hope to add new bowlers from Loch to our weekly family.

If everyone could be there by 10am at the latest so we can get the teams ready and looking professional in our new location, we would really appreciate it.

Until then, we wish all our bowlers a safe week.
