Arizona Cardinals Name 2024 Captains, Including Kyler Murray

The Arizona Cardinals named Kyler Murray, James Conner, Kyzir White and Budda Baker as captains on Monday, according to head coach Jonathan Gannon.

This year the captain was chosen by the players. Gannon chose the captains last year in his first season at the helm. There will also be captains for match days, Gannon said.

“We’re going to do it a little bit differently this year. I had the players vote last week,” Gannon said. “And most games (we’ll) have a game captain that the players choose.”

The Arizona Cardinals captains have been announced (as voted by the players):

–Kyler Murray
–James Conner
– Kyzir White
– Buddha Baker

Murray, Conner, White and Baker were all captains last season as well. It is the third consecutive year that Conner has been named captain, while it is the fifth consecutive season for Murray and Baker.

Linebacker Dennis Gardeck was not listed as captain, but could be a game day selection. Gardeck had been captain the previous four seasons.

“A lot of good guys in that locker room. A lot of guys got votes,” Gannon said Monday. “A lot of leadership, positive leadership there with a bunch of different guys. So I feel really good about the health and the state of us as a team.”
