However, AR Rahman and Saira Banu’s lawyer Vandana Shah in an interview with Republic TV dismissed the speculation, saying: “There is no connection at all. Saira and Mr Rahman took this decision themselves.”

She also addressed the ex-couple’s financial issue, noting that they haven’t talked about it yet.

“Not yet. It hasn’t gotten to that point yet. It would be an amicable divorce. They are both extremely sincere, and this decision was not taken lightly. It is not what you would call a marriage of convenience,” she explained.
