Anthony Joshua vs Daniel Dubois: Champion Dubois Slams the Table in Subdued Press Conference

The press conference was held in the stately Guildhall, a listed building dating back to the 15th century.

Olympic gold medallist Joshua gets the chance to join the ranks of three-time champions such as Muhammad Ali, Evander Holyfield, Lennox Lewis and Vitali Klitschko.

He was asked about the confrontation in June, when he felt disrespected by Dubois and threatened to throw a chair in the champion’s face.

“You should never let someone take an inch, because then they’re taking a mile,” Joshua replied. “You know what I mean, Dan?”

But Dubois replied absently: “Sorry?”

The Londoner did speak out about rumours surrounding his trainer Don Charles, who has not yet been seen during fight week.

“As long as he’s in my corner on fight night, it’s good,” Dubois added. “Everything is good.”

Joshua lost his belts to Usyk in 2021 and was defeated by the Ukrainian in a rematch the following year. He has since worked his way back into mandatory challenger position with four dominant victories.

Joshua, who will headline a British stadium for the sixth time, said he looks back on some of his previous fights in the country as motivation.

“It’s good to be back,” he added. “I’m ready to rumble and remind everyone what I’m capable of.”
