NYT Crossword clue difficulty ‘August zodiac sign’

When I read today’s crossword puzzle I knew I was going to be in trouble because not only were there two clues for the “August zodiac sign” but I don’t know much about the zodiac sign. I knew Leo was an August sign because my younger brother was born in August and that’s his sign. But I didn’t know what the other sign was until I solved the one-down clue and was able to guess the answer.

Unless you’re into zodiac signs and astrology, or happen to be a Leo or Virgo baby, this clue would have been tricky, but not impossible to solve. Therefore, I would give it a difficulty rating of three out of five.
