Anna Kalinskaya rejects the big rumor about her relationship with Jannik Sinner

Anna Kalinskaya decided to personally suppress a rumor that appeared in the Italian media when the Russian tennis star called “fake news” following reports that Jannik Sinner had proposed to her.

Over the weekend, an Italian newspaper spread a huge rumor, revealing that the recent US Open champion may have proposed to the 25-year-old WTA star during his run in New York.

To no one’s surprise, the news quickly became a big deal within the Italian media and it wasn’t long before the international media picked it up as well.

But according to world number 14 Kalinskaya, that was nothing more than an attempt to get some clicks.

“Just to clear things up about fake rumors, this is not true (laughing emoji),” the 25-year-old wrote on her Instagram Story.

Kalinskaya supported Sinner at the US Open

Although the Russian’s run at Flushing Meadows ended relatively early since she lost in the third round, she stayed in New York to support her friend. Moments after the ATP world number 1 sealed a victory over Taylor Fritz to reach two Grand Slams, he and his girlfriend shared an on-court kiss.

Since Sinner is known for being a private person, this publicity came as something of a surprise and an Italian journalist tried to ask him about it.

“Jannik, forgive me for asking this. Italians want to know the first name of your aunt to whom you dedicated your victory. And then you know that the whole world saw the kiss, are you happy with that?” the Italian was asked after the US Open.

Sinner responded, “I don’t want to answer one or the other. It’s a family matter.”

Meanwhile, the two tennis stars officially confirmed their relationship in May.

“As you know, I don’t like to talk about my private life. I’m with Anna, yes. But we keep everything very private. You know me: I won’t talk more than that,” Sinner said at the French Open.
