Angel Reese is about to break a rebound record, and she dressed up to do it

Angel Reese is on track to have the greatest rebounding season ever — and she’s dressing like it. For Friday night’s Chicago Sky game against the Indiana Fever, Reese — who’s set to set a new rebounding record — arrived fittingly in a #10 Dennis Rodman jersey.

Reese could become the new record holder for most rebounds in a season tonight. Sylvia Fowles currently holds the all-time record — 404 rebounds in the 2018 season — but Reese is just 16 rebounds away. She has 388 rebounds in 30 games this season.

Considering Reese is averaging 19 rebounds in her last four games, becoming the all-time leading rebounder tonight — against Caitlin Clark and the Fever — is within reach.

Regardless of whether it happens on Friday, Angel Reese is poised to set a new record, and she’ll do it in a big way. If she were to continue rebounding at her current average of 12.9 rebounds per game, she’d finish the year with 517 rebounds for the season — 113 more than Fowles’ record.

Needless to say, Reese is the league’s best rebounder this season, with two-time MVP A’ja Wilson ranking second with 11.7 rebounds per game. She’s currently in a battle with Caitlin Clark for Rookie of the Year — Clark has the upper hand for most of the scoring stats (and wins), but Reese has better defensive numbers and has historically been a good rebounder. ESPN has Reese at No. 1 in their latest rankings.

The decision to wear a Dennis Rodman jersey for such a big game is a fitting one. Rodman is widely regarded as one of the best rebounders in the history of the sport — he averaged 13.1 rebounds over his 14-year professional career, good for the 11th highest career average in NBA history.
