American soccer stars Tobin Heath & Christen Press reveal 8-year romance

“I think there was something that was a little off-limits when it comes to navigating that situation,” Christen said. “We’re both forwards, so we’re competing for spots, we’re competing for time. And then off the field, committing, being in a relationship and navigating that through the early, early stages of our relationship.”

Of course it was also easier because we weren’t on the same team.

“It wasn’t until we weren’t on the same team anymore that it became a little easier for us to step up and share our relationship a little bit more,” Christen noted, before joking, “Tobin always played for me, that was for sure.”

Ultimately, they wanted to protect their privacy.

“It’s kind of a protective bubble,” Tobin explained of keeping their relationship status within the confines of their team and closest friends. “It was a little bit more normal than it sounds.”
