American Olympic gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik joins Dancing with the Stars | American television

American Olympic gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik will appear on the new season of Dancing with the Stars, the hosts of ABC’s Good Morning America announced Thursday.

“I want to bring some of that gymnastics — maybe a backflip or a handstand. I want to have fun with it,” Nedoroscik told GMA hosts Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos and Gio Benitez.

The reality series’ 33rd season premieres on September 17 on ABC and Disney+. So far, 25-year-old Nedoroscik is the only confirmed cast member.

Dancing with the Stars pairs celebrities with professional dancers. Teams compete for points by performing different dance styles, such as tango, waltz, foxtrot or ballroom. The winning team takes home the mirror ball trophy.

Nedoroscik notably earned the nickname “the pommel horse man” at the 2024 Paris Olympics. He won an individual bronze medal for his routine on the pommel horse, a gymnastics apparatus made of a metal frame resembling the back of a horse, on which athletes balance, spin and swing.

The gymnast, who wears glasses and closes his eyes before performing, became a viral meme during a competition, with some comparing him to Clark Kent, the fictional character who looks like a normal person until he transforms into Superman.

Nedoroscik also competed with the U.S. gymnastics team, which won its first bronze medal in 16 years.

After his victories, Nedoroscik went to X and said his Olympic experience was “everything and more.”

“Bronze team. Bronze horse. I am eternally grateful for this opportunity. This Olympic experience was everything and more. Thanks to everyone who supported me. Bronze is a great achievement, but I have eyes for something brighter in my future #2028,” Nedoroscik wrote.

The winners of Dancing with the Stars season 32 were actor Xochitl Gomez and professional dancer Val Chmerkovskiy. Singer Jason Mraz and his partner Daniella Karagach finished in second place.

This season, the show is hosted by one of the show’s former dancers, Julianne Hough, and Alfonso Ribeiro, the Fresh Prince of Bel Air star who played Carlton Banks.
