American man attacks child safety worker, livestreams on Facebook

New Delhi:

An Arizona man has been arrested on attempted murder charges after attacking a Department of Child Safety worker and live-streaming the incident on social media. The deeply disturbing video shows De’Andre Johnson putting the caseworker in a chokehold for nearly three minutes.

The attack occurred after an hour-long interview about Johnson’s daughter in the lobby of Mesa Tower, where the Department of Child Safety has offices, The New York Post reported.

The 37-year-old first punched the practitioner before suddenly attacking him. As the victim walked away, he grabbed him from behind and lifted him to his feet, the video shows.

In horrific footage, the worker struggled to free himself before losing consciousness from the chokehold. Johnson tightened his grip around the subject’s neck for nearly three minutes. Shockingly, no one in the lobby tried to save the case worker.

The employee visited Johnson’s nine-year-old daughter’s school and brought her into a room to have a one-on-one conversation with the child, the man said.

While staring into the camera, Johnson repeatedly told the case worker that he became “a dead man” as soon as he brought his daughter into the room, without telling him anything.

Johnson said he was angry at the school for not informing him about his daughter’s closed-door encounter with the man, adding that “they can’t tell me what happened.”

“Now my daughter no longer wants to come to school. We have problems. You’re going to get to know me today,” you hear him say in the video.

During the attack, Johnson first dropped the worker face-first to the ground while he remained motionless, while people nearby asked him to leave the person. However, Johnson tried to grab the worker again after seeing that he was still breathing.

Later he sat in a chair and waited for the police to arrive. The victim was taken to a hospital and released, while the suspect was charged with aggravated assault and attempted murder.
