Amadou Onana was spotted making a viral video of himself correcting a reporter during Euro 2024.

The midfielder arrived this week for the Belgian national team for the international period. His team will face Israel and France in the final edition of the Nations League.

Onana will be hoping to build on a successful start to the season for himself and his club Aston Villa, his new club after moving to the Midlands from Everton for £50million.

He has scored two goals from midfield so far this season, helping his side to two wins and six points from their opening three Premier League games of the season.

Meanwhile, the villa service has started right after a summer in Belgium, and Onana has been reliving a certain event for months.

When Onana arrived for the Belgian service this week, he was all smiles as he was photographed wearing a black shirt with large white letters reading: ‘Andre ain’t even my name, mate!’.

The 23-year-old also wore a bandana around his neck and was keen to show off his new outfit as the press snapped photos of him.

Although he sees the humor in it now, he was less than impressed when the viral moment happened on June 17, just after his team lost the opening match of Euro 2024 to Slovakia.

Onana was on media duties in the mixed zone after the match and impressed the fans with his quick change of accent, answering questions in French but then switching to English to correct the reporter.

The reporter called the midfielder ‘Andre’ instead of ‘Aamdou’ and Onana was in no mood to sweep the mistake under the carpet.

“Andre ain’t even my name, bro. You know what I mean?” he said, calmly reprimanding the journalist.

It appeared the reporter had confused Onana with his namesake, Manchester United goalkeeper André Onana, but that was quickly corrected.

Belgium were knocked out of Euro 2024 in the round of 16, losing 1-0 to France. Onana, however, embraced the incident and started well at Villa.

Now, however, Amadou is completely happy about the incident and put on his new shirt when he arrived for the Belgian service.

He scored just minutes into his debut, heading in his team’s opening goal in a 2-1 win over West Ham on the opening day. He was interviewed by Sky Sports after the match.

After wowing fans with his answers, presenter Dave Jones told the midfielder it was unlikely anyone would ever call him André again, prompting the 23-year-old to burst out laughing.
