All Streamer of the Year Winners in Esports Awards History

The Esports Awards is the industry’s most prestigious awards ceremony, recognizing excellence in multiple areas, including the streaming scene and those who help it flourish.

The Streamer of the Year award is the holy grail of awards that streamers can win. It has been awarded since 2016 and won by the biggest streamers in the world.

For example, Dr Disrespect, who has since been discredited after confessing to texting a minor via Twitch whispers, has won the Esports Award twice, while Ibai has won a whopping three. The Doc won it in 2017 and 2019, while Ibai won it back-to-back-to-back in 2020, 2021, and 2022 in a stunning run of dominance.

Although they dominated and won the match five of the eight times they have done so, they are joined by three others: Imaqtpie, Ninja and, most recently, River.

Former League of Legends pro Imaqtpie won it in 2016 after hanging up his boots and switching to full-time streaming; the move earned him a massive following. Ninja won it at the height of his fame as a Fortnite streamer in 2018. His rise to the top was extraordinary. The Esports Awards panel recognized this by naming him the winner.

Recently, Samy “Rivers_GG” Rivers was given the highest praise. While many celebrated the up-and-coming streamer’s win, other top stars like Asmongold and xQc claimed it was a “diversity” choice and criticized the Esports Award panel for their choice.
