All India Inter SAI Karate Championship STC Naharlagun emerges champion, STC Imphal finishes second

IMPHAL, July 8: STC Naharlagun (Arunachal Pradesh) emerged the champions of the All India Inter SAI Karate Championship organised by SAI NERC, Imphal at Khuman Lampak.
STC Naharlagun collected 20 gold, 9 silver and 5 bronze medals to finish on top while hosts STC Imphal managed to bag 11 gold, 7 silver and 6 bronze medals to settle for second place. STC Shillong finished third with 19 medals including 5 gold, 8 silver and 6 bronze in the championship while STC Jabalpur collected 5 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze medals to finish fourth.
On the final day of the three-day championship, STC Imphal won two gold medals while STC Jabalpur and STC Naharlagun both shared one gold medal.
L Ansaraj won a gold medal in kumite for STC Imphal in the boys -55kg category by defeating Subash Bagang of STC Naharlagun in the final before Shri Krishna won a gold medal for STC Jabalpur by defeating Kutung Nampe of STC Naharlagun in the junior boys -55kg final.
Shandarson Nongrem of STC Shillong won the bronze medal in the junior boys -55 kg event.
Meanwhile, Bangram Lamnio of STC Naharlagun secured the gold medal in the boys senior -67kg category by defeating Devansh KR Sharma of STC Naharlagun in the final, while Albert Jyrwa of STC Shillong settled for the bronze.
Meanwhile, the gold medal in the junior girls -59 kg category went to Kh Madhusmita of STC Imphal, who defeated Sonia Londa of STC Naharlagun in the final. Daphilahun of STC Meghalaya finished third in the same event and settled for a bronze medal.
The championship was formally concluded in the presence of Padmashree award winner and Olympian N Kunjarani, who is also the Group Centre Commandant, CRPF Langjing; Maibam Ramani Chanu, Centre In-charge, STC Imphal; Laijing L Maring, Assistant Director (P&A), SAI NERC, Imphal; L Rinky Singh, Centre In-charge, STC-Utlou; Th Ibotombi Singh, retired Centre In-charge, STC-Takyel; Ch Chandrajit, retired Centre In-charge STC Takyel; T Nilamani, retired Centre In-charge, SAI NCOE, Imphal; B Ranjana Devi, retired Centre In-charge, STC-Utlou and M Bankim Singh, Secretary, Manipur Amateur Karate-Do Association as dignitaries.
