All Bloodborne The Board Game Expansions, Ranked – Destructoid

Bloodborne The Board Game is a faithful and accomplished adaptation of the popular video game, and comes with four expansions to add even more Yharnam adventures. Here are all the Bloodborne The Board Game extensions, arranged.

Please note that I am excluding Kickstarter exclusive expansions from this list, as it would be unfair to put them next to the commercially available expansions. For all the completionists out there, your only hope is to get them second hand, I’m afraid.

The Abandoned Cainhurst Castle extension for Bloodborne The Board Game is one of two expansions that add two new campaigns And a side chapter that could be integrated into any other campaign in the franchise. However, the theme, the choices, and the addition of my dear Alfred, this one takes the top spot.

After playing the first chapter of Abandoned Cainhurst Castlethe players have the choice to choose a side in an age old conflict. This will determine the story and conflicts that follow, although both paths are interesting and fun to play.

Traversing the intricate and interestingly constructed tiles of Cainhurst Castle was fun in itself, and the quirky and spooky quests to complete made for an engaging and thematic experience. While the overall enemy list isn’t the most interesting of them all, Bloodborne The Board Game expansions I found the story, missions and layout most appealing.

The bosses are also great, with both Annalise and Martyr Logarius posing serious threats in their fights. After completing one of the campaigns, I immediately wanted to play on the other side again. The extra side chapter is also something I hope to encounter in every other game I play.

bloodborne the board game forbidden forests expansion

Like Abandoned Cainhurst Castle, Forbidden Forests comes with two full campaigns and a side chapter that can be played in any other mode Bloodborne The Board Game campaign. The dark and dangerous forests offer great variety, and the enemies here are probably my favorites in all the expansions.

The terrain tiles here really make me feel like I’m in unwelcome and mysterious territory, and the poisonous and foul enemies are both terrifying and fun to fight. My friend and I only just now We managed to complete chapter one after completing all the other games with relative ease.

Although I never found the theme and stories as interesting as in Abandoned Cainhurst CastleThis expansion stood out to me a bit more while playing. CMON did a great job of capturing the environmental and immersive element of traveling through the horrific forests with no idea of what will happen next.

The bosses here are great, though I dreaded the abandoned giant board much, much more. As with Cainhurst’s side chapter, I was looking forward to the Forbidden Forests side chapter in all future campaigns.

bloodborne the board game chalice dungeon expansion

The Chalice dungeon extension for Bloodborne The Board Game adds a huge amount of content and offers two new ways to play the game. With an entirely new tileset, new hunters, and many new enemies, the Chalice Dungeons of Yharnam will offer exciting and sharper one-shots.

The goal in these sessions is simple. Work together with or against other players to find and eliminate the dungeon boss. With five new bosses and seven new enemies, and also compatible with any assortment of bosses and enemies from other campaigns, the Chalice dungeon allows you to go all out with the thrilling action that Bloodborne The Board Game provides.

Furthermore, traps provide additional challenges, which only enhance the PvP mode. Engaging in terribly tense and gruesome battles as you make your way to the final boss never gets boring and is always personal.

Some bosses here are just unbelievableand the tile sets are the coolest of them all in my opinion.

bloodborne the board game hunter's dream expansion

The The Hunter’s Dream extension for Bloodborne The Board Game adds an additional fourth chapter that you can add to any existing campaign. With the hunt over, you and your party return to the dream, but something is very wrong.

This extra chapter is full of great surprises and fights, including a secret fight that can only be earned by being rigorous with your quests. In this chapter, you will fight other hunters and travel to The Workshop at the climax for answers.

I really enjoyed this expansion, and the extra hunter minibosses can be added to any other chapter for a surprise that gives you a tough but rewarding fight. This is something I’ll be incorporating into all future chapters, as it’s fun, challenging, and definitely daunting.

As much as I love the The Hunter’s Dream extension for Bloodborne The Board GameIt doesn’t quite have the replay-ability of the above expansions, but is a personal strong recommendation. It does have enough interesting events to make you want to play it a second time, though. But that’s all I’ll say.

With this Bloodborne The Board Game expansions explained and ranked, now all you have to do is pick one for a fantastic game night.
