Alien: Isolation 2 is in early development and the original director is returning

Alien: Isolation creative director Al Hope has announced a sequel to the horror game. He shared the announcement on Twitter to celebrate the game’s 10th anniversary.

“Today I am pleased to confirm on behalf of the team that a sequel to Alien: Isolation is in early development,” Hope explained. “We look forward to sharing more details with you when we are ready.” While he didn’t provide any further details, the logos on the announcement suggest the game will be developed by Creative Assembly and published by Sega, just like the first.

Alien: Isolation was first released in October 2014 and has been released on many platforms over the years, including PC, PlayStation, Switch, Xbox and mobile. It also received a web series adaptation in 2019, as well as a companion book in 2022.

In GameSpot’s Alien: Isolation review, we said: “Alien: Isolation gives us a glimpse into a future with the Alien game you always wanted. However, it’s not the ship that takes you there.” GameSpot also celebrated the game’s milestone by looking back at why the game was so divisive among fans and critics.

While it’s unclear when the sequel to Alien: Isolation will release, in the meantime, fans can enjoy a new film from the franchise, Alien Romulus. There is also a new TV series called Alien: Earth that will air in 2025.
