Al-Ahli wants a definitive answer from Ivan Toney by Monday at the latest

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Al-Ahli has asked Ivan Toney for a definitive answer by Monday on whether he wants to join Saudi Arabia.

Toney, who was left out of Brentford’s squad for last week’s win over Crystal Palace, has just one year left on his contract with the Bees and is reportedly worth around £50m.

Surprisingly, it appears Toney doesn’t have many options unless potential candidates want to enter the race very late.

Al-Ahli wants Toney to respond on Monday

Toney, who arrived at Brentford in 2020 following his move from Peterborough, has been a key player for the club and has become an England international during his time in west London.

There is currently one party pushing for his services: Al-Ahli of the Saudi Pro League, with their bid of £35m reportedly rejected.

Given Toney’s quality, it would be a surprise if he eventually makes the move to Saudi Arabia. However, he has not given the club a definitive answer and now Jacobs has given an update on the situation.

Jacobs said the 28-year-old has been offered a three-year contract, with terms already set, and Al-Ahli want a definitive answer from Toney by Monday.

Toney was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal and Chelsea back in January, with Brentford valued at around £100m at the time.

After returning from an eight-month suspension, Toney struggled, scoring four goals in 17 games.

Toney was part of England’s squad for Euro 2024. If he were to move to Saudi Arabia, he could be ruled out of the 2026 World Cup.

Toney played 141 games for Brentford, scoring 72 goals and providing 23 assists, but it is almost certain that this is his last game for the club.
