Aitana Bonmati: Spanish international extends contract with Barcelona until 2028

Spanish international Aitana Bonmati has extended his contract with Barcelona until the summer of 2028.

Bonmati joined the Spanish club at the age of 11 and has since made 275 appearances in all competitions.

The 26-year-old won the Ballon d’Or in 2023 and has been nominated for the award again this year.

Reports suggested that some of Europe’s biggest clubs, including Women’s Super League champions Chelsea, were interested in Bonmati last summer.

Bonmati scored the opening goal as Barcelona beat Lyon 2-0 in last season’s Champions League final.

She also played a key role in winning a fifth consecutive league title and winning the Copa de la Reina and Supercopa de Espana in 2023-24.

The midfielder played a key role in Spain’s success at the 2023 World Cup, starting all seven games and scoring two goals.

Bonmati has won 23 trophies, including three Champions League titles, since making her debut for the Catalan club in 2015-16.

She is Barcelona’s all-time top scorer, having scored an impressive 96 goals in all competitions.
