After NOC from OCA, Subhranshu ready to become MP

Cuttack, July 23: After getting the No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA), top-order batsman Subhranshu Senapati is all set to join the Madhya Pradesh (MP) state cricket team.

The OCA gave him the NOC on Monday. Senapati’s wish to play for MP was confirmed by OCA Secretary Sanjay Behera, who said in a press release that based on his (Senapati’s) request, he has been given the NOC. Now he can play for any other state he wants and we wish him all the best for his future endeavours, Behera added.

It may be recalled that Senapati had hit 277 against MP in the previous Ranji season. Buoyed by his marathon knock, Odisha posted 498. The 27-year-old batted nearly 162 overs, which reportedly impressed MP coach and former Team India keeper Chandrakant Pandit.

It is known that Pandit was keen to have Senapati in his team this season. Inspired by his initiative, Senapati agreed to switch allegiance and play for MP.

Pandit is an experienced coach and was also associated with the Mumbai team for a long time. He was even the head coach of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the last season when KKR won their third IPL title.

Previously, Senapati was part of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for a number of seasons, including their title-winning campaign in 2023.

Senapati has represented Odisha in 140 matches and has scored 2967 runs in the longest format. That includes eight hundreds and twelve fifties.

His contributions in the T20s include 1082 runs. Similarly, he scored 1380 runs in the List A format and three hundred runs in the white-ball formats.

Speaking to the media about his plan to join MP, Senapati stated that he is thankful to OCA for their support over the years. But for better career prospects, he planned to play for Madhya Pradesh.
