Afghanistan vs Bangladesh live score, T20 World Cup 2024: Rashid Khan double strike dents Bangladesh chase

Afghanistan vs Bangladesh, Super 8 T20 World Cup 2024: Bangladesh bowlers dashed Afghanistan’s hopes of reaching the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup on Monday, restricting the Afghans to 115 for five innings first in their crucial Super Eight game in St. Vincent.

Leg-spinner Rishad Hossain claimed three for 26 to lead the Bangladesh effort on a surface where, having opted to launch the first attack, no one in the Afghan top order managed to stop the varied attack.

Afghanistan can reach the last four of the tournament with a win in Monday’s match, which would also eliminate Australia.

But despite another good opening stand – 59 from 10.4 overs – Afghanistan failed to capitalize on that platform, with top scorer Rahmanullah Gurbaz’s struggling 43 from 55 balls typifying the struggle to get the ball away.

Ibrahim Zadran and Azmatullah Omarzai managed to reach double figures, but the scoring percentage remained low throughout.

Seamer Taskin Ahmed, one of the two substitutes in the Bangladesh team that lost badly to semi-final qualifier India in their last match two days ago, produced a superb four-over spell and conceded just twelve runs to the wicket of former captain Mohammad Nabi .

It was left to skipper Rashid Khan (19 not out) to hit three sixes – only one more in the entire innings – in the last two overs to help dribble the score past 100 runs.
