Adam Peaty’s ex-girlfriend has given her blessing to his engagement to Gordon Ramsey’s “wonderful” daughter, saying she is a positive presence in their lives.

Eirianedd Munro, 26, was left heartbroken when she left the three-time Olympic gold medallist after he appeared on TV show Strictly.

The Welsh artist said her priority was the couple’s son George, who celebrated his fourth birthday this week.

But after Peaty announced his engagement to Holly Ramsey on Thursday, Eirianedd said she was happy for them.

In a statement to MailOnline, she said: ‘I’d like to take this opportunity to say how wonderful Holly is.

“She has been nothing but a positive presence in our lives. She is so gentle and kind, I could not have asked for a better stepmother to my son. We are so happy with the news and wish them all the best.”

Eirianedd from Newport, South Wales, ended her post with a smiley face.

In April, days after Peaty qualified for his third Olympics, Eirianedd said she had “forgiven” him for the split and supported him in his battle with alcoholism and depression.

She said at the time, “I have chosen to forgive and move on. Anything beyond that is not in the best interests of my well-being, my son’s well-being, or our family.”

“We continue to love, care for and pray for Adam. We wish him a full recovery.”

She wrote in the caption: ‘Happy birthday to the brightest star in the universe. Four years of the warmest and brightest light. Four years of the most glorious and infectious joy.

“Four years of the most gentle and chaotic energy. What an honor to know you and to know that I am yours and you are mine.”

Adam also wished their son a happy birthday, the day before announcing his engagement to Holly.

His post read: ‘Happy 4th birthday my beautiful George. I can never put into words how much I love you. You are growing so fast and it is incredible to watch you learn, play, laugh, show emotion, care and get excited for wonder. I can’t wait to see what this next year has in store for you and hopefully I can help you through it.’

His son George was just two years old at the time. Adam announced the news on social media, writing: ‘Eiri and George, I am sorry to have disappointed you. My only interest is the well-being of our family during this difficult time.’

Eirianedd announced the split on her own social media, predicting that she faced an “incredibly difficult” future.

Their split was partly blamed on the ill-fated ‘Strictly curse’ after Adam raised eyebrows with his on-screen chemistry with pro partner Katya Jones on the dancefloor. However, the pair now appear to be on good terms.

Holly and Adam have been dating for two years and announced their engagement on social media on Thursday.

“Thank you for making the little girl inside me feel loved, seen, and happier than ever. I love you and I can’t wait to be your wife.”

She then referred to Adam’s son George, whom he shares with his ex-girlfriend Eirianedd Munro.

Holly continued: ‘I promise I will always be there for you and George. I am so grateful to be in his life and I can’t wait for more.’

In his heartfelt post, he praised his fiancée for sticking by his side through his “most difficult times,” following his much-publicized battle with alcoholism and mental health issues.

He wrote: ‘I can’t believe you are going to be my wife. I am truly the luckiest man on earth to have such a gentle, caring and beautiful woman by my side. You fill my heart to the brim and give my soul peace.

‘You were there for me when I was at my lowest point and helped me understand myself and penetrate my own darkness.

“You’ve also celebrated the high points, which have been so many, because for the first time in my life I’m happy with the man I’ve become. You’ve gone to church with me and, without a doubt, you’ve joined the incredible community we have there.”

Adam continued: ‘Your family has always been so generous with their time, emotion and trust. I can’t wait to be with them too.

‘I have always believed that when two people are engaged and later married, we are no longer two people, but one whole. It is a great privilege to share that with you.
