A$AP Rocky Releases New Single ‘Tailor Swif’

The rapper first premiered the single during a series of festival performances in 2022

A$AP Rocky is in Swiftie mode on his new single “Tailor Swif” — but not in an Eras Tour-esque way. He first released the single during a series of festival performances in 2022, when fans still thought the real title was “Taylor Swift,” but he delayed its release in an official capacity after a version of the song and video leaked online.

“When we was broke, we was eatin’ lamb chops on the block/Even when I was po’, I was out here, eatin’ goats/Mary had a little lamb, but my mama needed a coat/Yeah, I had a sheepskin and a Gucci chain when I was four,” Rocky raps in the second verse before dropping back into the chorus where he flips the names: “I’m too fast, don’t tell Taylor about this/I’m too fast, don’t tell Taylor about this/Go to my tailor, he got me all pumped up/Go to my tailor, he got me all pumped up in the hood.”

“Tailor Swif” marks the latest release from Rocky, who has been steadily announcing the release of his upcoming album Don’t be stupidWhile he has yet to set a release date, he recently shared the single “Highjack” with Jessica Pratt and performed unreleased material during his sets at Rolling Loud Miami and Rolling Loud Portugal.

When discussing the inspiration behind the single, the rapper cited abstract European art influences. “We’re coming up with a whole new aesthetic for everything, especially with German expressionism and the whole ghetto futurism gritty thing,” the Harlem rapper said in an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1.
