A Washoe County inmate dies after being taken to the hospital

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) -A Washoe County Jail inmate died Sunday after being taken to the hospital for medical treatment, the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office said.

The sheriff’s office has not released any details about the inmate’s identity or medical condition.

It said the inmate was taken to the hospital around 10 a.m. for an undisclosed medical problem. Hours later, the prisoner’s condition deteriorated. Hospital staff attempted life-saving measures but were unsuccessful, the sheriff’s office said.

Both the sheriff’s office and the Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office will investigate the death. The medical examiner will release the name after next of kin have been notified.
