A summer transfer target for every Premier League club: part one | Premier League

Arsenal: Leroy Sane

With David Raya making his loan from Brentford permanent, Riccardo Calafiori arriving from Bologna and Mikel Merino expected to arrive from Real Sociedad soon, Arsenal should now focus on strengthening their front line. They have been linked with Pedro Neto and Nico Williams, but they should target Leroy Sane. Mikel Arteta worked with Sane during their time at Manchester City and the German’s versatility in attack would appeal to the Arsenal manager. The 28-year-old finished second for assists (11), ninth for key passes (72) and best for dribbling (93) in the Bundesliga last season.

Aston Villa: Joao Felix

Aston Villa have been busy in the transfer market this summer, but the departure of Moussa Diaby to Al-Ittihad has left a hole in their front line. Given the added workload of playing in the Champions League, Unai Emery will not want Villa to be short of options in the attacking third and the manager needs a player who can play up front or behind Ollie Watkins. Joao Felix’s career is at a crossroads following the end of his loan spell at Barcelona. The Portugal international is said to have burned his bridges at Atlético Madrid, which could open the door for a summer move. Felix has Premier League experience following his six-month loan spell at Chelsea last year and, with Jhon Durán also linked with a move away, the 24-year-old may consider a move to Villa as the best way to revive his career.

Bournemouth: Cameron Archer

Bournemouth have already made a couple of high-profile additions this summer, signing Enes Unal on a permanent basis and signing promising centre-back Dean Huijsen from Juventus. They have a well-balanced squad under Andoni Iraola and usually only enter the market to replace departing players. With question marks over the future of Dominic Solanke – he has been linked with Tottenham – Bournemouth may be on the lookout for another striker. Cameron Archer could be in the running. The 22-year-old has only just returned to Aston Villa after a year at Sheffield United, but they may be open to offers.

Brentford: Arthur Cabral

In February, Brentford announced that Igor Thiago would join them from Club Brugge this summer for a club record fee of £30m. However, disaster struck in pre-season when Thiago suffered a meniscus injury that required surgery and will keep him out of action for the next few months. With Neal Maupay returning to Everton from his loan spell and Ivan Toney linked with a move away, Brentford could make a short-term move for a new striker this month. Brazilian forward Arthur Cabral could be a viable option. He was Fiorentina’s top scorer in the 2022-23 season before signing for Benfica last summer. The Portuguese club signed Vangelis Pavlidis this year, so Cabral could find it harder to get playing time. A move would benefit both the player and the club.

Brighton: Ferdi Kadioglu

With Pervis Estupinan out until later this year with an ankle injury, Brighton may consider signing another left-back. Turkish star Ferdi Kadioglu is reportedly on the club’s radar, and for good reason. Kadioglu was one of Turkey’s stars at Euro 2024, as he capped off an impressive Super Lig campaign in fine style. Fenerbahce will be reluctant to lose the 24-year-old and will demand a hefty fee. Manchester United and Arsenal have previously been linked with a move for the versatile full-back, who would prove a fine addition to Brighton if they can convince Fenerbahce to sell.

Chelsea: Samu Omorodion

With Conor Gallagher on his way to Atletico Madrid – a move that is unlikely to go down well with Chelsea fans – Samu Omorodion could be heading in the other direction. The 20-year-old, who is currently representing his country at the Olympics, was linked with a move to Stamford Bridge earlier this summer and Chelsea will be hoping Atleti are now more inclined to sell. The powerful striker scored more counter-attack goals (four) than any other player in La Liga last season. By comparison, Chelsea scored three in the Premier League. Could he be the answer to their long-standing striker conundrum?

Crystal Palace: Maxence Lacroix

Crystal Palace have a number of sought-after players on their books. Michael Olise has already left for Bayern Munich, while Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi are attracting interest from Premier League teams. If Guehi signs for Newcastle, who are confident of landing him for around £60m, Palace will likely be in the market for a new centre-back. French defender Maxence Lacroix, who has just one year left on his contract at Wolfsburg, could be a smart signing, especially as the German club are reluctant to lose him for free next year. Lacroix can slide out of defence and find a team-mate from distance, so could prove a smart replacement for Guehi if he does leave.

Everton: Kalvin Phillips

There is a gaping hole in the form of Amadou Onana in Everton’s midfield following his departure to Aston Villa last month. Tim Iroegbunam has already moved the other way, swapping Villa Park for Goodison Park, but Everton need more experience in midfield. Kalvin Phillips struggled during his loan spell at West Ham in the second half of last season, but the former Leeds man would prove a useful addition to Everton. He is an effective ball-winner who has the skills required to succeed in a Sean Dyche team. Crucially, he must rebuild his reputation and try to regain his place in England.

Fulham: André

Just as Everton lost a key midfielder in Onana, so too did Fulham when Joao Palhinha left for Bayern Munich. Fulham have since spent big to sign Emile Smith Rowe from Arsenal, but they have yet to add a midfielder to complement Palhinha. Brazilian player Andre has been on their radar for a while, but a deal for the 23-year-old has yet to be sealed. The Fluminense midfielder isn’t an immediate replacement for Palhinha, but he’s not afraid to get involved – as evidenced by his average of 2.2 tackles per 90 minutes for the Brasileirão this season. Andre is also impressive on the ball, with the best pass completion rate in the division (94.5%).

Ipswich City: Jack Clarke

Ipswich have been active this summer but may not be done yet in the transfer window, especially with Nathan Broadhead suffering a hamstring injury that will rule him out for the start of the season. Thankfully, the Welsh forward will not require surgery but he will need some time to get up to speed. Broadhead was a key figure in Ipswich’s promotion campaign and his absence is a disappointment. Jack Clarke stood out for Sunderland last season despite their disappointing campaign, scoring 15 goals and completing more dribbles (148) than any other player in the Championship.
