A fatal crash on Broad Street in Utica has left one person dead and another injured

UTICA, NY – A motor vehicle crash on Broad Street near Bacon Street early Sunday morning claimed the life of one person and left another seriously injured, Utica police said.

Emergency crews from the Utica Police Department and Fire Department responded to the crash around 8 a.m. Upon arrival, one occupant of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. The second resident was rushed to Wynn Hospital for emergency treatment.

The condition of the injured person has not yet been released. Authorities stated they would provide updates as more information becomes available.

The Utica Police Department Accident Reconstruction Team remains on scene and is analyzing the scene to determine the circumstances of the collision. As a result, Broad Street is closed between Milgate Street and Wetmore Street, with police advising motorists to avoid the area.

“Updates will be released as they become available,” the department said in a statement shared on its social media channels.
