As a four-time NBA champion, Steph Curry has played many iconic games.

His Golden State Warriors and Team USA coach, Steve Kerr, who attended all of those games, believes his performance in Saturday’s Olympic gold medal game against France was one of the best of his career.

“It’s one of the best games of his career,” Kerr said after the game on NBC. “The shotmaking was just unbelievable. But under the circumstances, on the road, in Paris against France for a gold medal. This is fairy tale stuff. But that’s what Steph does. He loves being in fairy tale books.”

Curry scored 24 points on Saturday, all three from long range. He made eight 3-pointers and led Team USA to a 98-87 victory.

Of Curry’s eight 3-pointers, four came in the final three minutes of the game. The first of those series gave the United States a two-possession lead. With less than two minutes left, Curry made 3-pointers on back-to-back possessions to keep France at bay. He finally made one with 35 seconds left to make it a nine-point game, which served as the dagger in the gold medal game.

Curry’s amazing performance from afar came as the legendary shooter competed in his first Olympic final. Despite his long list of accomplishments in his career, being crowned a gold medalist was something he had yet to achieve.

Against a strong French team, led by Victor Wembanyama, he ensured that the gold medal went to Team USA.

Moreover, his signature performance on Saturday was probably his second-best game of the Olympics. On Thursday, Curry scored 36 points and eight rebounds on 9 of 14 shooting from long range to lead the United States in a fourth-quarter comeback against Serbia. Curry was just one point away from tying Carmelo Anthony’s single-game scoring record for Team USA.

But as Kerr noted, the circumstances of Saturday’s game make Curry’s performance all the more impressive. The United States faced a team powered by a home crowd, but Curry still found his shot and calmed the crowd.
